You technically should go for it every single time! 50% conversion rate, higher when running so your expected point value every 10 attempts is 10 points. (5 out of 10 again higher if you run) Pat 95% so 95 out of 100 reduce the fraction to 9.5 out of 10. So your expected point value is 9.5 for every 10 pats.
Well it’s a little more nuanced than that (though your math is right)
For example if you tie the game with a touchdown, then you obviously kick the extra point. There are certain contexts where the kick is better
In the case of being down by 14 late in the game. It’s better to go for 2 because your overall win probability is significantly higher. If you get it, then another touchdown WINS the game.
Versus if you score 7 twice, you’ve then made it basically a 50/50 game
